Evaluation: Question 2

Our media product consists of a variety of different people and consequently social groups, mainly representing age; as our target audience is teenagers. The age of the majority of people involved are similar to the audience including the presenter and reporters, as well as people involved in Voxpops. This allows our audience to find the bulletin more interesting as people of their age are speaking to them. As well as this everyone involved is local (geographical representation), from and living on the Isle of Wight. This also creates common ground between the audience and the presenters and reporters; making it more exciting for the listener as it is about their local towns. One of the reasons why we chose the presenter we did is because he is a teenager and being a male will make it fun to listen to for both girls and boys and his voice has a fairly calming tone within it. Furthermore, we chose the stories we did for our news bulletin as they are local and interesting and our target audience expressed an interest for these stories during a questionnaire. They can relate to them as they are aimed at more of a teenage group and are sourced from local areas; affecting them, for example the Planet Ice story. Mainly teenagers will go to planet ice to ice skate therefore the fact that it may be closing affects them a lot. Also the Cumberbatch Wedding, teenagers are into celebrity gossip and finding out that a celebrity is having their wedding on the Isle of Wight would be exciting for them to hear; it could be their home town. This is how our media product represents age, gender and geographical social groups.
