Evaluation: Question 7
From the preliminary task my group and I have learnt and improved a lot of things. When writing the script for the stories we always referred to our ideal target audience and what they may want it to sound like. When recording we made sure that the microphone was at a suitable level and found a suitable place to record all the presenter and indoor reporters parts, so that the recording wasn't disturbed by background noise. We were able to edit it a lot better, as before people noted that our volume wasn't consistent throughout the preliminary task and not all the audio clips flowed smoothly; therefore we faded the audio in and out and adjusted the volume of certain parts to sound more fluent. I have learnt a lot from the progression of the preliminary task to our final piece; especially in the use of certain technologies, I am more confident in using audacity and other editing programs. I have also learnt that the quality of an IPhone recording device is just as good as the specialist recording devices; therefore my group was able to record professional quality audio, quickly. However I feel that if given time to do this again I would still change some parts. For instance, we should be more aware of our time scale as were not able to include certain presenter parts (signposting); this meant that the bulletin didn't flow as well as I'd hoped. I would have liked to get our presenter to say "Thanks Jess, now on to our local news" and "Time for sports" so that the groups of stories were broken up but also flowing from one to another. Overall I feel that we have improved a lot from our preliminary task to our final piece in all aspects of the creation of a news bulletin.
Evaluation: Question 6
During this task my whole group learnt a lot about use of technology. I was mainly using the audio recorder and found this simple and easy. Alfie, another group member was better at the editing side of things as he has already had experience here. However I made creative inputs and was taught how to use audacity; I now know how to fade audio in and out, adjust the volume and tone and put a news bulletin together. If i was asked to edit it by myself now I would be able to do that easily as well as improving our product.

Evaluation: Question 4
The target audience for this media product would be teenagers; therefore between the ages of 12-18. From the already made 'Ideal target audience profile' we can see that they would probably be full-time students at this age still, potentially living with there parents and maybe having a part time job. Our profile was a 16 year old female and was a full time student, working time at Topshop; this is the demographics of our target audience. For psychographics we thought that the majority would be mainstreamers or aspirerers and this is also where our audience profile came under. She enjoys fashion, mainstream shops, Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora (so mainstream music) and Rom-Coms and X-Factor; therefore usual teenage girl interests. She would listen to our news bulletin because of the local news as it could be affecting her and because of the celebrity and filming stories.
Evaluation: Question 3
We have created a completely new type of bulletin for a station as we feel there is a gap in the market here. However where our news bulletin is a local one, Vectis or the Isle of Wight Radio may broadcast it. This is purely due to the content of the stories within the bulletin being local news mainly. However because we have aimed it at a teen audience the stations like Capital.FM may be interested in showing it on their program, as this is the same audience as theirs. BBC 1 could also want to show it as their audience is slightly similar but also the structure of their news bulletins are the same as how we have laid ours out. On the other hand an internet radio station may also want to show it as this is where most teenagers view media products due to social networking sites, therefore it may reach more of our audience if we show the bulletin on an internet radio station.
Evaluation: Question 2
Our media product consists of a variety of different people
and consequently social groups, mainly representing age; as our target audience
is teenagers. The age of the majority of people involved are similar to the audience
including the presenter and reporters, as well as people involved in Voxpops.
This allows our audience to find the bulletin more interesting as people of
their age are speaking to them. As well as this everyone involved is local
(geographical representation), from and living on the Isle of Wight. This also
creates common ground between the audience and the presenters and reporters;
making it more exciting for the listener as it is about their local towns. One
of the reasons why we chose the presenter we did is because he is a teenager and
being a male will make it fun to listen to for both girls and boys and his
voice has a fairly calming tone within it. Furthermore, we chose the stories we
did for our news bulletin as they are local and interesting and our target
audience expressed an interest for these stories during a questionnaire. They
can relate to them as they are aimed at more of a teenage group and are sourced
from local areas; affecting them, for example the Planet Ice story. Mainly
teenagers will go to planet ice to ice skate therefore the fact that it may be
closing affects them a lot. Also the Cumberbatch Wedding, teenagers are into
celebrity gossip and finding out that a celebrity is having their wedding on
the Isle of Wight would be exciting for them to hear; it could be their home
town. This is how our media product represents age, gender and geographical
social groups.
